Families

Isn't this a happy looking family? Well, they are a happy family.

In 15 years of mentoring we have learned something about hurting families and disadvantaged youth. There seems to be ONE thing missing.  Can you guess what it is?

You might have guess the ONE missing ingredient to be … a FATHER, you are right.  We believe there is a reason why God continually tells his people not to forget the widows and the orphans.   The FATHER, the man within the home is vital to the wholeness and happiness of the home.

In the spring of 2017 just prior to the flood, God was clearly pointing out tthat ministry in the future will not just be “preventative or intervening” youth mentoirng.  God was beginningt o differientiate between serving the problem and helping to fix the problem.  You see, if you stick a band-aid over something but never treat the cause, the problem can reoccur.  Our society has an epidemic of fatherless homes.  The statistics show nearly 33% of youth don’t live with their fathers (U.S. Census Bureau, 2010).

In the months before the flood God was speaking loud and clear to the steps MOA was to take to help strengthen the family units.  There is an attack against the family unit, there are assults against the men in our homes, and the enemy of God is not going to back down on these attacks and these assults.  God has instructed us provide a place for Him to meet with families together in the solitude of His creation, and away from distractions.

Then the flood! However, in the fall of 2017, after 6 long months of cleaning up, God began to remind us of the need for the family reprieve and the need for men to lead their families with confidence.

Today, MOA has a clean slate to work with.  This year we hope to be able to take steps toward God’s desire to strengthen both men and families.
